What we can fix
Our volunteer repairers cover these broad categories. If you're unsure whether your item fits, just bring it — the assessment is free and honest.
Textiles & clothing
Buttons, zips, hems, tears, patches, bags and rucksacks. Bring spare fabric or thread if you have a preference.
Furniture & woodwork
Wobbly chairs, loose joints, drawers that stick, small refinishing. Items must fit through the door and be carriable.
Bicycles
Flat tyres, brakes, gears, chains and general tune-ups. We do basic maintenance, not full overhauls.
Toys & miscellany
Wooden toys, picture frames, umbrellas, small mechanical items — a surprisingly large share of what walks in.

What we can't accept
A few honest limits, so you're not disappointed on the day. This list exists for safety, insurance and space reasons.
- Large appliances — washing machines, fridges, ovens and anything too heavy for two people to carry.
- Microwaves — the capacitor charge risk is not something we can discharge safely on site.
- Anything wet, mouldy or infested — for the health of volunteers and other visitors.
- Gas-powered devices — stoves, heaters and similar, regardless of size.
- Data recovery — we can repair a laptop that boots; we cannot rescue data from one that doesn't.
- Cracked phone screens — parts cost more than we can source; we'll happily point you to a shop that does.
How a visit works

Check in
Arrive during opening hours and add your item to the list at the welcome table. No booking, no fee — first come, first served.

Assessment
A repairer looks the item over with you, works out what's wrong and tells you honestly whether it's fixable today.

Repair attempt
You stay and work alongside the volunteer. You'll see exactly what's done, so you can do it yourself next time.

Take it home
Fixed items go home working; unfixable ones leave with a clear diagnosis and suggestions for recycling or a specialist.
If we're busy, you may be asked to leave the item and collect it before closing — the welcome table will tell you.
